Festive Spirit

It's finally December and it's safe to say it's nearly Christmas. Around this time of year things get really busy and it can be difficult to take a moment to relax and enjoy the special things about christmas. However since most people are now off work and school, myself included, I thought I would take a few days to get myself in the festive spirit.
For me the best thing about this time of year is Christmas decorating, and that includes my bedroom. An idea I got from a DIY hack for my fall themed decorating is printing off festive images from google and tumblr and sticking them above my bed with some fairy lights. This DIY is so inexpensive and really quick to make. I also added some small christmas themed candles, lights and tinsel to my bedroom. I have chosen to have an all white theme this year and I'm really happy with how it looks.
I also did some festive baking, I was inspired by Zoella's recipe for Christmas Tree brownies. Its really simple to make and they taste amazing. The ingredients you need are:
- Ready make chocolate Brownie kit (I used a Betty Croker one)
- Green ready to use icing pipe
- 2 candy canes
- Decorative sprinkles
Simply bake the tray of brownie mixture according to the instructions from the box. Cut the brownies into triangle shapes and decorate with green swirl ready icing and decorative sprinkles. To finish off, cut a small section of a candy cane and push into the based of the brownie so it looks like the stump of the tree. This recipe is so easy and it a tasty christmas treat.
Another simple thing you can do to make snacks even more festive is adding peppermint flavouring and a candy cane to a hot chocolate.

For me the best thing about christmas is spending it with loved ones, I enjoy spending time with all my family and going on christmas dates with my boyfriend. One all my favourite Christmas themed dates is going Ice Skating and having a festive dinner in a restaurant. Depending where you live you might not have an Ice Rink but if you do I think it's a great place to take your family or loved one for a special Christmas. There's nothing better than getting ready a festive date and seeing that there are Christmas themed Snapchat filters!
