I recently received my first ever BIRCHBOX in the May edition. For months now I have given up with subscription services as I thought that most of the products in them weren't worth the money but I thought I would give BIRCHBOX a try.
First I have to say I am in love with the packaging, its so cute and Im eager to do some DIY and make it into some form of storage or something. The packaging is a draw style box that it decorated like a rose gold marble surface and it looks super stylish.
So here is a break down of every product I received in the box;
Full-Size Marsk Mineral Eye Shadow - Vanilla Frosting
Before seeing this eye-shadow I had never heard of the brand Marsk, but BIRCHBOX are kindly giving away full sized samples with ever May edition box. The eye-shadow it's self is a loose pigment component so I had to be extremely careful when unscrewing the lid. The colour of the shadow is so beautiful and shiny and amazingly reflects light. In my opinion this shadow is great for dabbing in the corner of the eye with a small detailer brush for getting that bolder eye effect. I also used the eye-shadow as a highlighter, as it as loose pigment I lighted pressed in my brush and gently swiped it on my cheek and its blinding.
Whish Rice Milk Firming body cream
First of all can I just say that I love rice milk! It is one of the best remedies for dry skin and I love the smell and texture of it. I really like this body cream, it isn't greasy or thick and it leaves skin feeling so soft and smelling delicious so it was a lovely treat to discover.
Beauty Protector Protect & Volume
I don't usually use any types of sprays in my hair as I don't normally see any benefit to it as my hair is so thick and dry but I thought I'd give it a try on my wet hair. It's okay I suppose as it did what it said it was going to do but I don't think it's anything special. I probably will take this on holiday with me though as the heat and sun really dries out my hair and it will need a lot of hydration so maybe I'll fall in love with it after putting it to the test in the sun.
Doucce Punk Volumizer Mascara
Again, I've never used this brand before but I always love trying out new mascara and seeing how different brands look. I usually go for small brushes that are spaced apart as that's what I get the best results from. It's worth mentioning that my eyelashes are damaged so its really hard to get them to stay curled. But I do like this mascara for using after something smaller as it gives a fully effect to my lashes but I don't think it's something I would use very often so I'll leave it as a spare for any of my friends.
Doux Me Pure Spring Mist
I am such a huge fan of setting sprays and refreshing mists, I have used many different brands throughout the past months so I was super excited that I got one in the box. Again I have not heard of this brand before but I think its great to try new brands and products as sticking to the same can become tiresome. So this spray is supposed to be used to refresh your makeup during the day and adding vitamins back into your skin, which I believe it does. On hot days my foundation can become oily and this spray was prefect for touching it up throughout the day. I will for sure be taking it on my holiday.
With the May edition box, I also got a sample trio of Benefit 'They're Real' products. I am a huge Benefit Cosmetics lover and I've never tried any of the 'They're Real' products before. The trio featured 3 products; They're Real Mascara, They're Real Remover and They're Real Tinted Primer. This sample trio was a lovey little extra with the box and I cant wait to try it.
